3.1. Downloading to Windows Computers

For Windows users follow the steps below:

1. Download the specified ZIP file (e.g. Dynon-1606.zip) onto your Windows Device and note the destination directory.
2. Navigate to the downloaded ZIP file using Windows Explorer and double click on the file. Once unpacked the contents of the ZIP file will be displayed.
3. The entire contents of the drive can now be moved to the root directory of the destination USB drive. Using the files listed in the previous screen shot as an example, select all of the files and folders ready to copy to the USB. To do this click the first item ChartData, hold down the SHIFT key, and then click the last item vfr_Australia_1606.key. All files from first to last selected should now be highlighted.

*Unless specified otherwise all files contained in the zip file must be copied to the USB drive. Other files may be added from time to time that do not appear in this or subsequent documentation.

*For Windows users – you can omit the _MACOSX directory, as this is a by-product of producing the zip file using the MAC OS.

4. To move the files to the USB, using the mouse, press and hold on anyone of the selected files and then drag the file to the target USB in the drive list of Explorer. When the target USB is highlighted in the drive list release the mouse button.
5. The selected files, directories and sub-directories will be copied to the target USB device. You can track progress via the progress dialog displayed for the duration of the copy operation.

*Depending on the speed of the USB device, the copy may take several minutes to complete. You will, however, be able to review copy progress via the progress window displayed. If prompted during the copy to handle duplicate files, always select the Replace option to ensure that the latest file is written to the USB.

6. Once the file copy has completed, click on the target USB to inspect the USB’s contents. The root directory of the USB drive should contain the same files as those listed in the source drive.
